Tariff Fee Policy
We now collect the required tariff fee during checkout so orders are not delayed during customs processing. This fee is based on the total order value and is not a profit charge.
Some express delivery services (FedEx or DHL) may still apply separate import, clearance, or processing fees at the time of delivery. These fees are charged by the carrier in addition to the fees prepaid, not by us.
When possible we use lower-cost shipping services to absorb or reduce these carrier fees which can add a little more time to the delivery itself. We are trying to keep the process as simple as possible.
Why This Fee Exists
Tariffs are government-imposed taxes on imported goods. They are not created by private companies and they are not optional. Every country has its own import rules, and the United States currently applies tariffs on certain categories of products manufactured overseas. Bobblehead dolls and similar resin art items fall under these categories and are subject to tariff fees based on their declared value.
These tariff fees are separate from shipping fees. Shipping covers transportation. Tariffs cover import taxation. Because these are costs assessed by government and customs agencies, we cannot remove them, avoid them, or classify them differently to lower the amount.
Who Collects and Controls These Fees
- Tariffs and import duties are controlled by customs agencies.
- Carrier clearance or processing fees are controlled by carriers such as FedEx and DHL.
- We do not profit from tariffs or clearance fees and cannot alter them.
Before we implemented prepayment at checkout, carriers often stopped shipments, billed the customer directly, and waited for payment before releasing the package. This slowed down delivery and caused confusion because customers thought they already paid everything at checkout. Prepaying the tariff fee removes this slowdown.
Why Bobbleheads Are Affected
No bobblehead dolls are manufactured in the United States. All companies in this category rely on overseas production, mainly in Asia. This means tariff exposure exists no matter which vendor is chosen. The tariff fee is not a specialty fee unique to our store; it is a standard import condition for this product type in today’s trade environment.
Tariffs are calculated based on product value, not country of sale. Higher-value custom work triggers higher tariff costs due to declared value rules. Under-declaring value to reduce tariffs is illegal and results in shipment seizure or fines. We comply with required customs law to ensure your order clears safely and without issues.
What Happens If Additional Carrier Fees Appear
While tariff fees are now prepaid during checkout, carriers may still charge separate fees in certain cases. These are usually related to expedited delivery, regulatory paperwork, customs brokerage, or last-mile import processing. These fees are determined by the carrier and not disclosed to us in advance.
If a carrier fee appears at delivery, it must be paid directly to the carrier to release the package. Failure to pay may result in return-to-sender or destruction of the package according to carrier rules.
If a Package is Returned Due to Non-Payment
- If a package is returned because a carrier fee or customs fee was not paid, it cannot be refunded because all products are custom-made to order.
- Returned items can be reshipped for a new shipping charge if requested, but production costs cannot be refunded.
Transparency
We are committed to being direct about these costs instead of hiding them in inflated product pricing or denying their existence. This policy ensures orders move faster, customs releases goods without delay, and customers understand how tariff and import laws actually work in 2026.
